How do I get the IE6 icon back on the XP desktop? I can add a shortcut but then I can't get to IE properties by right clicking on the shortcut icon. Reinstall of IE6 does not add icon back.

Right click on desktop, choose Properties. Click Desktop tab. Click button marked "Customize Desktop". On Desktop Items dialog box, select Internet Explorer. Works like a charm. I found it here: http://www.techtv.com/callforhelp/answertips/story/0,24330,3355578,00.html
