Suddenly I can't access a website by clicking the link in the favorites panel, IE hangs and all I can do is close the window and start again. The only way I can open a page is by typing the url in the address bar. I thought this was caused by the Google toolbar, and sure enough things were OK briefly when I got rid of it, but now the problem's back. Registry Mechanic, Spybot and AVG have all drawn a blank, and clearing temps and offline content makes no difference. Grateful for any help with this.
Windows XP comes with Internet Explorer 6. Microsoft has made IE part of the core operating system. If you think IE is screwed up, and want to repair it, you must use the sfc command:
Start > Run , copy & paste > Sfc /scannow & press Enter .
This will scan and restore protected system files ( which IE is )
