Comment:
I think Microsoft needs to go back to the drawing boards when it comes to Internet Explorer 6. Recently, I had some bad problems with reloading, repairing, and restarting winxp. I have tried every known method possible in getting IE6 to work. When I went to Microsoft to download for example directx9 and when I press the "go" button to go to the next page, I go to the next page...no problem. Then I click on the directx9 line in order to start the download. All I get is "Not authorized to view this page" (403 error) forbidden. Then I turn around and use Netscape 7 at the same site and the download works. What gives with IE6? I have changed out every security feature in the browser. I have turned off my firewall protection programs and have turned them on. No change in the way IE6 handles downloads. If anybody can help, please reply.
Thanks,
Octavious

Check the cipher strength by clicking on help, in IE6, then about internet explorer and see if it says 128-bit cipher strength. If it says something other than that, it is the cause of your problem.
I am not sure how to repair that in IE6, but it is probably in the MS Knoweledge Base.
Good luck.

Below is a link to correct the "Cipher Strength Appears as 0-Bit in Internet Explorer" problem if that's your problem.

When I get home today, I'll look at the 128 cypher encryption code and see. On Saturday night I did go to "help" in IE6 and when to the "About Internet Explorer" and it did say 128 encryption on it. If one reloads IE6, does that mean that the encryption is gone? What would be the next step if IE6 has the 128 encryption code? I hope that I don't have to format my drive. I'll post tonight.
Thanks,
Octavious
