IE won't keep me logged into sites

April 7, 2005 at 11:13:15
Specs: XP Pro SP2, Pentium 3 700, 512PC133

There are a couple of forums that I go to, and there is a "remember me on this computer" option to keep me logged in.

Every day, at work, I have to keep relogging back in, even though I tell it to remember me.

Where is the option in windows XP/IE 6 to tell it to not remove whatever it is removing??

I looked around the settings and I cannot see any option. My history is set to stay for months, and I have Temp Files set to 2GB.

Thanks

Websites log you in automatically by using 'cookies'(small text files which the site sends to your PC and which are saved in the 'cookies' folder). So something is either deleting those cookies or more likely, IE security settings are blocking all cookies from getting on to your PC. In IE go to 'Tools' - Internet Options - Privacy tab. The vertical slider should be set to 'Medium'or 'medium high'. If set right at top you are blocking all cookies.

Click on your menu bar -> tools
Click on internet options
Click on Content
Click on button autocomplete

Check setting for form

I did all of this, and it is still happening!

On my home system, If I log into a forum, and tell it to remember me, it stays logged in for eternity.

At work, If I close IE, it doesn't remember. I have all of my IE security set to low or none, and my advanced settings set to default.

I checked the settings with my home settings, and its the same, if not lower!

Is there a way to do a repair on IE in XP? Maybe that will fix it.
