Hi,

My Internet Explorer started taking ages to load any sites recently. So I tried to "clean" my pc for wares, virus, trojan, emptying folders, removing applications I rarely use, endig processes from task manager, deleted all unnecessary files, temp files, bin, cookies, history, etc to to speed up my PC. BUT Nothing worked! Then I installed Mozilla FireFox. And it seems like bullet! lol. So I am after these two:

1. IE vs FF: Who is the ruler?
2. How to remove/disable IE?

Thanks!

I prefer Firefox. To remove/disable IE in XP is nearly impossible. It's way to integrated with Windows. Some may disagree, but whenever I've attempted to remove it, results were not positive.

Leave it alone, and just use Firefox.

Not me, Jen. You're absolutely right. The engineers in Redmont were told to make IE an integral part of XP OS so as to ensure M$ monopoly. (Now they're screaming about the $375 million dollar fine levieled by the EU)

Firefox ROCKS, you need to keep IE around for the updates and also some sites will only work with IE, example Online Banking and the like....

Keep the old stuff running

Just so you know, you will need IE from time to time if you are running Windows XP, and for the most part applications that need to render HTML will refer to it at one point or the other, so spare yourself the grief.

Let IE be, and just use another program as your default browser is what I'd recommend too, it's just not worth the trouble & if you are doing this because you've got too much time on your hands, you can come over and mow my yard.
