Recently for no apparent reason, my computer has started to use the old version of windows media player (im not sure which one) when playing files in IE on the internet. Videos take forever to load, and sometimes just dont load at all. Also i just hate how it looks. This has nothing to do with my speed of my ISP (8mb cable).
When i play videos outside of IE, like watching a movie, my comp uses the current WMP 10.

I think i found out the version number that IE is using. I right-clicked when i was trying to watch a video on wimp.com, and found the following info:

Windows Media Player Control
(microsoft copyright junk)
Version 6.4.09.1130

Hopefully this is helpful and someone can help me out

if you dont want videos played in your web browser, try this,

go to your internet options under your tools.
then go to your advanced tab, scroll down to multimedia and uncheck the "play videos in web pages"

Dave, SWAG, not positive this is the best way. What happens if you do a search and delete the old version? Strikes me that if the new is the ONLY, that's the one that'll get used.
HTH.

It is part of a curtain rod thing, something to do with hanging curtains;lol....it is getting rather stale though. Just an observation.

scobod, i tried what u suggested but it still loads items in IE using WMP 6.4

Ed, im not sure this will work. When i try to watch a video, and it doesn't work, i do Save Target As. I download it to my desktop and attempt to open it with WMP 10. For some really odd reason, it says the correct codecs aren't installed....yet i can watch any movie or whatever i have on my computer

I have the divx codec + player, as well as quicktime plugin. i probably have an array of other codecs as well :S
