Hi guys!

My comp is 6 months old. It's a 2.4 GHz Pentium 4, 40 GB HDD, 256 MB RAM, 40x32x10 CDRW, runs windows xp...

It was running IE pretty fast until a couple of days ago one of my friends wanted to create a start up disk. He also loaded some mp3 on my HDD. Suspecting this may have caused the prob I deleted all those files he gave me, defragged the hdd but still the IE reponse time has dropped significantly. I also virus scanned it using Mcafee but no virus found. I run a 56 k connec. Please help.

Use a spy scanner and check if u have any spyware on yr comp...

also, try to lower the security level and/or cookies acceptance level from the tools > internet options...

try going to add/remove programs in control panel and if you have Q811493, remove it
restart when prompted and see if that helps.
MS is working on a patch that will replace that one.

How would the removal of Q811493 help? What is this file? Is it some system file? Safe to remove?

If you mean that your internet connection has slowed down check first to see that a download manager was not installed by parties unknown.

Then go to PC Pitstop and run their analysis.
Tweak as they recommend and you should be back in business.

Good luck
