IE script error message

Specs: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, 1.794 GHz / 1982 MB

I keep getting a error message when I run this site, which more than usual will cause IE to enter "Not responding" mode" allowing me to go brain dead from what I was working on, wich in turn cause me to punch the Ctrl+Alt+Del combo, just so I can start over and have the same thing happen again. But, it is not just this site, there are other sites that I visit and the IE will go into "Not Responding" mode".

This is what the error messages reads:

"Stop running script?

A script on this page is causing Internet Explorer to run slowly.
If it continues to run, your computer might become unresponsive."

I am running a fresh Windows XP Home SP3 install, havn't much of a chance to change any settings in IE because I don't know what to change to make my browsing experience less frustrating and am either looking to find the correct setting to solve this or to find a Browser that offers similar features as IE8?

The most important features I am looking for are to have multiple tabs open at the same time and the option to see where you are navigating when using the Back and Forward buttons. Also something that will allow bookmarks to be imported from the IE 8 exported bookmark file, and something that will display the Bookmarks off to the side statically like how IE does it. Something that works and runs like IE, but without the error messages.

Try to adjust the time-out period for the script and hopefully it should cure the annoyance.
