In the help & Support window when looking up something I get a IE Script Error. xmldoc.documentElement is null or not an object. I also have a small window with an x that says Microsoft Windows graphic I right click on it an go to properties Uabrand.gif Address: MS-ITS:C:\WINDOWS\Help\ntdef.chm::/Uabrand.gif
Dimensions 163 X 30 pixels. If I click yes or no on the error script and read the help screen the word Windows is replace with XOX I can not open support for anything that is directly related to windows. Internet explorer 6 is my browser.

Only thing I have left is start-run-type SFC /SCANNOW. Note the space between C and /. You will need the xp cd. This should replace/repair any corrupt/missing files. Good luck. You may have to do a system repair. Post back. Will return tomorrow.

Is that what SFC told you? It should have replaced them.

I am at another machine now. I will post the System repair procedure tomorrow unless you are already knowledgable of it. Boot from the xp cd and go to the install menu and select "repair the existing installation".

I went into tools and checked and it said missing file. I do not have the cd xp. it is hidden in my computer. I think it has something to do with the url. I opened help and support and click on the word, Display I recieved the error message with the same URL except with the word Display instead of howto. It asked if I wanted to keep running script on this page and I clicked yes it did open. I checked my Norton Protected recycle bin and Display.chw C:\Windows\Help
was listed as being sent there today. I am so confused. Everytime I use IE for support at Microsoft I have a problem, I do not save the pages to favorites from the knowledge center. I have already experienced that problem. I did however, print the pages out I needed. Also I have noticed some prep for sp2 on my computer, I have automatic download but it has not been downloaded. It doesn't seem to be working either, the icon stays on my taskbar on the right and it says Downloading Update: 0% It has never stayed. It would only appear when I was online and it was updating. Please help. I do not want to do a complete system recovery. What are Children.tags this has appeared in the help/support errors before. Thank you so much for your help.

Hate to do this but without the xp cd I can't help any further. You might repost this as it has slipped way down the list. Be sure to post the full problem. I am sure someone can help you. Good luck.

I have a similar issue. I cannot use the XP IE help menu without getting script errors. I have just installed SP2 and MS Office XP 2002

line 2
char 1
error invalid character
code 0
url mk:@msit store: c:\windows\help\iexplorechm:/iegetsrt.htm

If I proceed or stop the script it makes no difference. it just clears to the next item and then a similar error appears.

I have tried the above solutions without success. I don't have any viruses and have never been hijacked. All the help menues in other applications work fine. I use Spybot, Adaware, and Norton System Works. When I am on the net I use Internet History Eraser.

Does anyone have any solutions?
