When booting I get a message: IE is not on this computer do you want to remove the personal items? I think I fouled a registry entry and the computer does not recognize that IE is on the computer. Once I click NO to the question everything seems to work ok. How do I reset the registry so that the computer knows that IE is on the computer and I stop getting the message on bootup?

Did you try a System Restore?? If not, try it.

As suggested, System Restore may be the fix.

Other options:

Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs - on the left, click Add/Remove Windows Componets - remove, then re-install IE. This may be enough to reset the recognition problem.

Repair IE + OE in Windows XP

Be sure to run Windows Update after the repair.
