IE on winXP hangs, thumbs don't show

I am running windowsXP and lately, when I am surfing, and when I open another IE window, (ctrl+n) IE crashes... I don't know what's going on.. also on some sites like www.gamespot.com I can't see the thumbnailed pictures in the gallery and sometimes, when I come to a website, the text shows for a while, then it just dissapears.... :( please help me....


I had another problem with MCAFFEE Virus SCAN, the whole computer locked up, but it turns out it was their newer "engine" that made the problems.... now, I only have the problem with IE6.....

Please help, and thanx in advance

And some other pictures don't show at all (avatars on a forum)

Please help me!!!!!


(Note that these things don't happen with Netscape) I thought about reformatting, but I just bought this machine 3 weeks ago, and I don't want my parents to think I screwed something up again........ is there a way to reinstall IE6?)
