Doing searches on Google returns normal looking results. But lately, when I start clicking on the results, I seem to get redirected to other, improper & irrelavent sites. If I copy the URL from the google results page & paste it into the address window, then I go to the proper site. I've tried to navigate to the same search result URL both ways & definitely end up at 2 different web pages.
Any ideas on how this is happening & more importantly, how to fix it?
Note that I also use Netscape & everything works fine there, so the problem is isolated to IE.
I'm using IE 6 with all the latest patches.
If your response is going to be 'upgrade to IE 7', don't even bother. I'm looking for a better answer than that.
Thanks.

Why not upgrade to IE7? Run it for a few days & you'll wish you'd have done it weeks ago.
Other than that, it appears your browser's been hijacked. Run a full virus & spyware scan. Run a trojan remover. Run MSCONFIG, check for unusual or unexplainable startup entries & disable them. Run hijackthis & remove suspicious entries. Try an online scanner such as Housecall. Rethink your protection & browsing habits.

It sure does sound like your Google searches are getting redirected! When you are on another page such as AT&T homepage and click on a link, does the same thing happen or are you going to the correct places?

Thank you Jam & AKBessy.
The "Hijacking" does not occur on any other web pages except google, at least that is the only place I've noticed it.
I run NAV 2007 & get daily updates. Prior to that I was using NAV 2006. I didn't see anything too suspicious in MSConfig, but did turn off a few recognized but unneeded items. I'll try some of the other suggestions soon. Someone at work mentioned about unsolicited browser "add in's". Anyone know anything about diagnosing and/or disabling them?
BTW I already use IE 7 at work, so I know "what I'm missing". For now I prefer to stick with IE 6. If I can't resolve this problem, I may have to switch for that reason.

Download FixWareout from one of these sites:
http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwa...
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/fil...Save it to your desktop.
Close ALL windows and browsers including the internet.
Double Click Fixwareout.exe and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish.
The fix will begin; follow the prompts.
You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so.
Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal. You may want to run it a couple of times.
