Only at CNet, after I post replies, then try navigating back to my CNet’ message list or even to another CNet forum, I’m always (just recently) getting an IE error pop up saying stuff like…

“Internet Explorer cannot open the Internet site http://www.computing.net/cgi-bin/ww... Operation aborted.”

The intended page does appear, but is always overlaid with this pop up.

Something wrong with CNet's server?

Anybody else seeing this happening?

This is driving me nuts. Every once in a while I get hit with same damn error/operation aborted message with no clues as to how I can fix it.

I researched the net and found this.

Come on guys can you enlight me over what this guy meant when he suggested "leaving your Javascript outsde your designated layer"? Thanks.

Thanks for reply, but since I see this issue only at CNet', I'm not even considering changing anyhting on my OS.

Again, only seeing this at CNet', and only via two aspects of navigating the site; Either when clicking on my message link (to see replies to posts) and after I click reply (to a reply).

Any other navigation on CNet' goes smoothly. So I still think this's a CNet' issue and not ours.

How about it adminstrators, anyone checked the site for gremlims?

I haven't seen any newer post's on this, so I'll offer my 2 cents worth. At a suggestion I found at the Langa List to improve security on IE7, I made some changes to the security settings, specifically the XMS. After this, I was getting all sorts of 'you can't do that' messages. So, I went back into the Security tab and reset it to default. Then I went in and set the XMS stuff back to disable. Now, everything seems to be happy. So, if you have recently made any changes to your internet security, you might want to reexamine them.

I hope this helps someone else.

Bob :)

A positive attitude won't solve all your problems, but it will annoy just enough people to be worth the effort.

If it isn't one thing it's another.

Just finished up another bout of craziness here at CNet.

For several days, everytime I tried posting replies to my replies, instead of the usual 'confirm post' page appearing, I was confronted with a CNet page implying either I wasn't registered or logged in.

Notified our good man Justin and he said, in part...

"The site just went through a server change and its running off two servers at once. This might cause some issues"

I guess that might do it.

About two days later I see it's fixed.

Thanks ('CNet') for all the hard work provided to make up such a great site.
