Okay...
So a few days ago, I noticed my browser (Firefox) wouldn't load certain pages, or I'd have to hit refresh several times to get the page to load, which didn't always work. Some pages won't load at all - I get the 404 or server not found errors. Also, when typing in an address in a new tab, it got the same result no matter what I did, unless I started at the home page and searched for the site. Then sometimes the actual page I wanted still wouldn't load when clicked. It finally got to the point I switched to IE, which immediately began showing the same symptoms.
This, in addition to several other things, led me to wiping the HD and doing a completely new installation of Windows XP with SP2.
So I reinstall FF and IE, an older version of FF, and try to go to some of the pages again... same thing happens. I've re-installed my firewall/antivirus/etc programs, so I disable them completely before trying again... still won't load.
I update FireFox, just to see if that will work.. and it doesn't.
IE (also updated now, as well as the older version) is also having major issues connecting to and loading pages.
Pages are also loading EXTREMELY slowly when they do load.
I'm running Windows XP Home with SP2 through a 2wire router (wireless). The desktop attached via cable to the same router works fine.
I'm at a bit of a loss, and would much appreciate any input anyone might have..

Try your wired connection to the laptop and see if it works there. You may have a wireless connectivity issue.
