IE 8 initial failure

Self build / N/A

Specs: Vista Ultimate, SP2, 3.0Ghz/2Ghz
I also have a Windows XP computer with SP3. I recently upgraded to IE8, the latest browser for XP. When I first start IE8, it hangs and I have to kill the task. I clean out temporary inet files and then start IE8 again; everything is fine. Why is IE8 hanging on first use and how can I correct this? I have checked the check box that says to clear history on exit but it does not seem to help. Thanks.

If IE8 keeps acting up, I am thinking of uninstalling it. I had IE6 before. If I do a system restore, will I get IE6 back or no? Next option is to put IE7 on. Thanks.

If you uninstall IE8 it should return to IE6 (if that is what you had before).
System restore is an option but it shouldn't be necessary.

Maybe if you went via IE7 it would then take IE8 - computers can be strange LOL.
I've found IE8 fine on XP but some folk seem to have trouble with it.

Of-course there is always Firefox, Google browser, etc.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Uninstall IE8 - that will take you back to IE6. If you don't have CCleaner installed, go to the CCleaner builds page & download/install the Slim version. Run it & remove everything it finds.

Then download IE8 from here:
