IE 6 Passwords

I have a new laptop with wireless connection using XP. Whenever I use IE 6 and the site asks if I want to store a password, the password is never stored. I have all of the correct settings established under Internet Options, but my computer will not save the passwords. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks. Could it be b/c it is a wireless connection? I have already checked and made sure that i am allowing cookies.
