IE 6 - not connecting

IE 6 will not pick up the network connection. Outlook (for mail and browsing) is fine, IM is fine,and other browsers I have downloaded are fine. Every time I open an IE window it won't connect.

first of all go into IE, Tools, Internet Options, Connections and make sure 'Always dial my default connection' is selected (or dial where not present).
If that is already set up then you could consider repairing IE. Being IE6 its a little more tricky because it will tell you that you have a newer version installed but read this and it should sort you out:
