I have P-4, the question that i want to ask that how can i identify that the machine i have is 32-bit or 64-bit. .. .. Previous day i download an application, it gives an error that can not run on 32-bit machine.

SO just tell me how can i recognize that the machine is 32 or 64-bit... is there any method without software and with software. Or any hardware identification mark on it.

Plz help me!! when i try to download a particular application than how can i immediately find out the case.

Thanks allot in advance!!

Ask yourself this: When you attempt to locate a driver, can you do so without much difficulty? And if you install said driver, does it behave as you would expect?

If you answered "Yes" to both questions, then you have a 32-bit system. (Or: If you had a 64-bit system, you'd know.)

THanks allot sir,
Razor and StuartS. You gv me a very good guideline: But Razor I know the behavior of 32-bit----in accordance with the Reply of SwartS( as he say P4 is 32-bit) but i don't know what would be the behavior of 64-bit..... plz gv me another simple example... how it is changed from 32-bit.

Bcoz i never used 64-bit, and gv me the exmple of 64-bit machine,e.g their name.

Thank u very much my friends!!

You cant change a 32 bit CPU into a 64 bit CPU, it is built in by the manufacturer. 32 bit refers to the width of the data bus. The wider the data bus the more information can be moved around at a time.

To use 64 bit you need a new computer that supports a 64 bit CPU.
