Hello,

Installed XP PRO and I love the features. Just a few things holding me down at the present.I've tryed running the ICS wizard several times and have gotten the same error message every time. "There was an unexpected error while windows was setting up ICS, these settings can be performed manually" (not an exact quote but close). I have 2 ethernet cards one D-link(Network) and the other net gear(Internet). I am using direct TV DSL (normal phone line) which uses standard ethernet DSL modem. My main computer which connects to the net is browsing fine. But the other computers on the Network (WIN98), which have all had the ICS wizard installed properly, will not connect. This tid bit may help too. When I try to bridge the two ethernet cards manually in the net connection it gives me the same "unexpected error". This wouldn't normally bother me, but there is no explaination for te error. All drivers are current and the Network portion is working fine on all computers. I tryed installing Lan Bridge server and client software it worked for a few days, but became very unstable. (not always working). Does anyone know how to manually set up a proxy server or a gateway for my main PC?

Thank You!

Matt

How many other computers are you connecting? If you are connecting more than 1 client, may I suggest getting a hub or a switch? This will eliminate the need for the 2 network cards for one. Just plug your DSL connection into the "WAN" port in the hub or switch and plug your other systems into each of the ports. In any case, I would set each of your client machines IP's manually. On your host machine, use these settings: IP: 192.168.0.1; subnet: 255.255.255.0; and obtain the rest auto. On your client machines, increase their IP by one from your host (i.e. .0.2, .0.3 etc...) and put their default gateway as your hosts ip (192.168.0.1) and also point the clients DNS to 192.168.0.1

May not seem clear, but this should work...
email if you have ?'s

Fozzy
