Comment:

Recently my laptop downloaded the windows up date (XP), however now I can not access the internet using explorer or firefox, I just get a message saying the connection was reset, but it however shows it as being connected, there does not seem to be a problem with the hub (it shows the laptop as being connected). This is also a hardwired connection, I have tried flushing/reseting/renewing the ip configuration to no avail.

determine what isn't working. can you ping your own ip address? the gateway ip? the dns ip?

perhaps the update included security so check your windows firewall configuration.

look at the date on your nic driver. perhaps you need to roll it back to a older version.

Imagine the power of knowing how to internet search

I heard that the other day that ZA with the patch did that to some systems.

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, are in my top 10
