I have two O/S issues:
1. Firstr of all I had until recently 2 XP Home operating systems on my desktop. I have removed one of them as I haven't used it for over a year. When I start the machine I am still asked which version of windows I wish to use. Obviously there is a reference still being made to this uninstalled O/S. How do I remove this reference so my machine just fires up automatically.
2. I had Mandrake installed on this same machine but I had to uninstall this aswell. Similar to the previous problem when the machine starts up I am asked which operating system do I wish to use. How can I remove this reference to mandrake so I won't get that screen.
Please help if you can, thanks, Dave.

To remove the Mandrake bootloader, use the 'fixmbr' command from the Windows XP cd's Recovery Console (is it possible to do it from Windows? You can try). To remove the other XP, edit boot.ini: Start>Run>'msconfig'>Boot.ini
Removve the second os's entry.
