how do I make a domain please guide from beginning and making domain controller.

I want to make a domain having p4 and other computers are mostly p3. So I want to make my p4 as a server domain controller and also configure proxy server. Please guide me from beginning

You need to read a good book about Windows Server to understand what you are doing. This is not a process that can be adequately described in a forum post. I can recommend http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-W... (or the version appropriate for the version of Windows Server that you are using).

A domain tends to mean an Active Directory domain. It is only available on a server OS from NT to windows 2008. Some parts can be replicated to a degree in linux or unix type OS's. It is possible to use some of 2X.com's products to get what you may want.

As ijack says you kind of need a very large about of training. All that is available on the Microsoft web pages. Technet or the server home page are good places to start for free information. It is the best place since server certifications are based on that data almost word for word.

Get you a used or new MCSA/MCSE Self-Paced Training Kit even if it is from the 2003 sever set. The set needed for cert is about 5 or 6 books. You can read them and use each example.
