I have norton ghost s/w.I installed XP in my PC.Now i want to create an image of my OS into a CD.Then from next time onwards i need not to install the OS from XP CD.Simply i can copy this Ghost. Can any one suggest me whst to do for that...?
If it is bootable and can usefull in installing os bootable it's fine.

The image of your opertaing system won't fit on one CD. You should store the image on one or more DVDs. Do you have a DVD burner? The DVDs will not be bootable, but the Norton Ghost DVD should be bootable.

Depending on which version of Ghost you have the CD or DVD CAN be bootable. What version of Ghost do you have?
To carry your idea further, if you periodically create a ghost image of your drive/ partition you won't need to re-install very much after the restore from the image. From Ghost 2003 on the program can create images to almost any media. IMO the best method is the one you are thinking of. The only advantage of using DVD media is less disks. You can even use DVD and finish with a CD. I have done so.
The issue with optical media is this. Ghost MUST be able to identify your burner properly. If Ghost can't identify the burner you will not be able to span the image over multiple disks.
Some newer burners like DVD dual layer drives may give Ghost a problem. I believe you can go to the Ghost site and check compatiblility. I haven't had that issue so I'm not positive on the method of getting Ghost to identify the drive. My two burners are both automatically identified.
After creating an image you should verify the image is usable. This is explained in the Ghost help files on the CD and in the installation, if you installed the help files.

firstly u must install norton ghost.another version u can use.and then u go to ghost.from there u can create the image file.after u create the image file better u save u in the Local Disk D.
Next time u can use the image file in the Local Disk D
