i want the drive window

1.After opening my computer when i select a drive(C or D) then it opens in new window but i want the drive window also in the same window.where should i change the setting to get in the same window ?
2.In folder options when iam selecting HIDDEN FILES & FOLDERS to show hidden files & folders.when i click apply & ok then it changing automatically into DONOT SHOW HIDDEN FILES & FOLDERS. How to get the hidden folders to be seen ?
