Right click taskbar > Toolbars/New Toolbar/Desktop/ok. This will put desktop in your taskbar, if this is what you wanted.

Ray, If you want the Show Desktop icon in your Quick Launch area of your Taskbar go to the link below and under the letter "S" scroll down to "Show Desktop Icon is Missing" where you'll find an easy fix.
C:\Documents and Settings\&&&\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch

That should be copy to:

Hello and thanks to all of you for the help, but after months of not knowing how to do this, I just right clicked on the task bar.. went to properties....and I checked off "show quick launch" and all the default icons came back, including the desktop one and I just deleted the ones I didn't want. Thanks again Ray
