Specs: Windows XP, 3500+/1.32 Gig
How Can I get sump.exe to work again? I get windows error that microsoft wants me to send. It all was working good untill I cleaned registry and must have messed up a windows file. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Speedupmypc and it will launch but after a second of running I get windows error and it closes down. I get an option to send or don't send. The software was runnin so good.

Try restoring your PC to an earlier date when your Speedup utility was working. How did you clean your Registry... never a good idea to do that unless you know what you are doing. A Restore may fix your problem.

I agree with Jolicloud. If you fell for the false "speed up" claims, you have no one to blame but yourself for the consequences. Try using Revo Uninstaller to make sure you wipe that piece of crap off your system for good.

Well evidently you misunderstood, The software didn't do nothing to my PC. It was doing its job by finding all the garbage on my computer and getting rid of it so it runs better. It was running good for 6 months. I had bought the registration for it. Well one day I happened to have done a windows update and didn't like the outcome and did a system restore along with registry cleaning and the system restore I went back to far and it wouldn't let me undo it. That's when all this mess started. I can no longer find a good point on system restore anymore. Regards to Uniblue's post I have already done that a few days ago and got a ticket number and still currently working with them. Just thought I would try other avenues at the same time.

We do not mis-understand, these types of programs are not worth even installing as Freeware, let alone paying for them.

Everything these type of software undertake, can be done manually with more control and far less risk.

I personally worked as an IT Tech. for 10 years and have seen many Windows Systems hosed by this type of software.

You came here for advice and sorry it is not to your liking.....

Rock, that program does nothing to speed up your pc, in fact it can screw it up faster than anything. it's all hype. It's nothing but a registry optimizer. Like Riider and Jolicloud said, get rid of it. All you need is ccleaner slim which can be had here.

It does a great job at cleaning up the leftovers and tweaking the registry and it's free. Good Luck.

Sump.exe is part of Uniblue speedup, so your error message iis all down to that program.

If you can't uninstall it then try it in Safe Mode. Otherwise type msconfig in the Run box and if it is present in startup then you can at least disable it while you sort out the mess.

I agree, avoid aa magic speedup or cleanup programs you see on the net. Even when they are not scams they screw up your computer.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
