Hi again:

Today I am having only part of the white page with the little "(i) This page cannot be displayed" come up on some of my searches and emails but, only in a small area. What does this mean?

It's not effecting my viewing as it's only coming up in small areas, for example where adverts are.

It's a new experience for me!

Do you have some sort of ad-blocker turned on? Zone Alarm 5 and a few other programs block out ads and other scripting that the programs consider a danger to privacy.

It also could be that you have javascript and such turned off.

No I don't have Zone Alarm 5, although I do have security software. Norton and AVG anti-virus, McAlfee Firewall, also Spysweeper (this could be the one that is causing this problem as I recently configured it).

How do I turn on javascript again? Can you let me know the link to configure this?

Thanks

If you have the Common Ad Sites Shield enabled in SpySweeper that would probably be your cause right there. If not, in IE go to Tools, Options, and then the Advanced tab, and scroll until you see the javascript radio button, then click it to enable javascript.

In Firefox, in case you are running it, go to Tools, Options, and the Web Features tab, and put a check in the box next to javascript.

Off-topic, but you may want to be careful running to antivirus apps, at least at the same time as conflicts can occur. You may also want to check the settings in McAffee Firewall too.

Here's another quick question thought of after I saw the word "emails" in your post, did you recently get "Thunderbird, Mozillas' email application? The little "red X" and "can't be displayed" thing happens all the time with me because Thunderbird by default doesn't allow scripting to run (a very nice security measure).
