I shut down, now I cant do anything

May 2, 2009 at 19:59:42
Specs: Windows XP Pro
I shut my pc down for the night, and when I went to restart it for the morning it would get past the checks and stay at a blank screen, starting in safe mode gave me this list of files:
WINDOWS\system32\ntoskrnl.exe
WINDOWS\system32\hal.dll
WINDOWS\system32\kdcom.dll
WINDOWS\system32\config\system

I don't have any of the CD's that came with my OS, nor a recovery disc, what do I do, I need to save my data because I have files that I can never get again.

To recover your files, remove the HD, buy a USB external HD enclosure, put the HD in it, connect it to another PC & transfer the files.

Then try to buy or borrow a Windows CD to repair the OS.

Restart your computer HIT F8 and then select the option
"Last Known Good Config" and boot the system. This will roll
back to the last known best settings your OS when it was
shut down, Did you install any new software/drivers or add
any new devices to the OS before you shut it down?? If you did check back on those....
