hi
my xp installs good in dos but then when i restart and after it checks for the 3rd party raid drivers and crap it just brings the blue screen where the installation is supposed to continue and it stops there. i tried waiting and it doesnt do s---. i also tried changing crap in my bios but im not sure what part might be causing it. can anyone help?

Is there a reason why you're installing in DOS?The XP Installation Disk is Bootable and will install fine as long as you aet CD-ROM to boot before HDD
I wonder what 'crap' you changed in the BIOS ?
Lesley

Im installing in dos because im doing a clean install. i took of the bios shadow cashing or s--- and minor stuff (im not stupid, lol) and its still f---ed

like you know when its supposed to show the agreenment and s---? it doesnt do that for me! all it has is Windows Setup underlined and it stops!

If you boot from the disk you can do a clean install - all the options are there for partitioning and formattingIs all your hardware compatible with XP?

I'm assuming you're using a full version -not upgrade?
If you boot from the disk there is an option to run the Advisor which will run a check of your system and give you a report on your hardware - although I have a feeling that has to be done from within the current OS
There are several options re saving the old OS etc
Maybe someone else will confirm all this since I've forgotten now but I remember all those things being there

Its alright. thanks anyways. ill just install 98 se for now because that seems to work better than me and 2000 for me.
thanks for ur help

Check and see if there is an update for your bios. It took me 4 tries to get the OS loaded and I still got the blue screen of death untill I updated bios no more problems since

Hi
Check to see if your system contains a RAID controller for which drivers are needed.
I had a similar problem when installing WIN 2000 server on my computer where the installation checked for third party RAID controllers, and then gave a blue screen STOP error. At the time I didnt know that my mobo contained a Ultra 100 Promise controller. The problem was solved by downloading the drivers for this onto a floppy and then during the installation pressing F6 (when prompted) and installing the drivers.
I only mention this because u describe the installtion stopping just after it searches for the RAID drivers.
Hope this helps.
