Someone had given advice to someone else on problems concerning accessing certain websites. It was suggested to get the IP of the site and use it instead of the URL to access said site.

I've gone through about 100 or so posts and can't find it anywhere! Can someone please explain how to find out a site's IP addy?

I'm still having problems accessing certain websites [including my own personal one]. None of the helpful suggestions have worked for me [but I did discover that if I copy the URL to said site, clear my caches etc, paste the URL and hit enter, 9/10 I can get into the site. But this is a pain and hard to do for sites that have multiple pages such as forums].

I've gotten completely fed up to ^^^here with IE and have dl'd Netscape, but have yet to install and try it out.

You need to do a lookup. There are tons of free apps to do it, but I like something called TJPing. You can google for it or if you contact me directly I'd be happy to send you a copy. Just type in www.whatever.com and click the Lookup button, and there's the IP.

PS--Good luck with Netscape. The only thing I use IE for is downloading updates from Microsoft's website.

If for some reason, Netscape doesn't work out, give Mozilla Firebird a try:

It's lean and quick with a familiar interface like IE's, but without IE's security problems. Also, when installed, Firebird will automatically import your IE favorites. Also has a built-in pop-up blocker.

What's not to like? 8-)

Not sure if this helps but try reseting your web settings.
Tools>>Internet Options>>>Programs (tab)>>>Reset Web Settings, while your there goto Advaced tab and hit restore defaults.
Also not sure if XP Home has it but look to see if you have MSN explorer and try using that instead of IE..I sometimes find that can help me get onto a site that i cant accsess threw IE.
Good Luck

So many ppl... lol

Ok, in order...

Kevin: found it, dl'd it, haven't tried it yet [explanation later in post...]

Solarian: peeked at it, it doesn't specify that you can find someone's IP addy, although does do a reverse look up. Read other pages in the site didn't see anything that specifically said it did.

Thought, before I try the IP thing, I should check out the Netscape... why download it and not try it, eh? lol So I install Netscape and dammed if I CAN get into ALL the sites I couldn't before!!!

Ozyoiy: That was suggested to me before, tried it, didn't work. I have gone through this whole site concerning EVERY problem dealing with IE, internet connection problems, pages not being displayed, etc and have followed EVERY bit of advice suggested [except for the repairing of IE one]

I'm thinking that the first thing we suggest to ppl having this internet problem is the repairing of IE. Haven't done it meself, to see if that's what my problem was. Don't really care as now I have NS... lol But probably will end up doing it anyway just because I HATE loose ends.

Thanks so much,

Teesa
