Hello,
I recently lost the Windows update icon that was on my start bar,you know, when you click "start" then "all programs" it was at the very top with "Windows Catalog" & "Set program access & defaults" kindof segregated from the rest of the programs by a little black line. Can anyone help? it's driving me nuts.I know I could just copy the url into my favorites, but I would like the actual icon back. Thanks alot.

Here are the other details, if you care:

The shortcut name is Windows Update
Start in: %HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH%
Comment: Offers the latest critical and security updates, device drivers, and other features that are available for your Windows computer.

another way is search for wupdmgr.exe
click the arrow next to: more advanced options,
and put checkmarks next to: search system folders, search hidden files and folders,
search subfolders, type in wupdmgr.exe and click search, when found: right click it and left click: pin to start menu.
(it's located in c:\windows\system32 so if you have show hidden files and folders you can browse to it there and do same)

The most simple way and more affective everytime is go to help and type in "windows update" and you can go from the link in there. Do not worry about the shortcut.

Hope this help
