I have dllhost.exe running in the background of my XP when I do a ctrl alt del. I stop it but when I reboot it comes back. Not sure what it is. I looked in msconfig but I cant find it in there. Does someone know if it is safe to disable somehow and how I can go about doing it?

go to run and type services.msc and you can disable all kinds of background applications there... go to www.blackviper.com it will tell you what it stands for for every service listed.

dllhost.exe is an internal windows xp component. it's not spyware or whatever, so don't worry about it. it has to be running, so don't try to crash it, this might crash your whole system. dllhost doesn't eat any resources at all, it just sits there and doesn't disturb you. so why crash it and endanger the whole system?

Mine is using 4,186K. Not sure if that is alot but I know it has never been there before. I took screenies of my file when I first got my system and a month later and it is not on those screenies. I took the shots just for this purpose. In case anything pops up that was not there before. I do however appreciate your response.
