It may not be a "virus" (technically)... but it may be some scabby spyware. Download "Spybot Search & Destroy," and it'll run through your system and delete the currently known spyware programs.

You would benefit from running a few (three/four utils at least) to rid yourself of an assortment of pests, and also prevent them arriving...

SpyBot, SpywareBlaster, AdAware and Trojan Remover are just four to use; BHO Demon is another that hunts for and lists all browser home page hijackers and it then allows you the option to disable (delete?) them...

I find Spyware Blaster particularly useful (it is also referred to within Spybot). It frequently flags up warnings that something is about to arrive (be downloaded etc.) and allows the choice to accept/reject the item.

Have a read thru' the various items detailed/linked at:

http://www.computing.net/windowsxp/wwwboard/forum/94623.html

discusses many of these pests; includes several excellent resource links (post -1) which you may/should visit...

http://www.computing.net/windows95/wwwboard/forum/155163.html

is less detailed but perhaps browse also...?
