Solved I have a compaq v5000 laptop. The bottom half lcd is black?

Specs: Windows XP
How do I fix it? I have read that the inverter needs to be replaced, something about a block connector and loose cables. i don't know how to fix it. I don't have the money to have it done at a shop. Can anyone help me out with an easy fix, clearly written. Thanks.

Try/borrow an external monitor & see if that is Ok. That then isolates the problem.

I saw a you tube video that corrected the problem. all i had to do was press hard on the lower left hand side of the screen and wallah, the screen went back to normal.
