Hey,

I finally figured out why people were double posting their signatures (at least I think). They were taking the confirmation page information and, for some reason, copying it all (including the signature). They would then post this all in a new post, causing the signature to be double posted. For this reason, I have modified the code. The signature will not be reflected in the confirmation page textarea anymore.

Justin

Well done Justin, now all you have to figure out is how to stop them posting a question as a sig. 8)

Hi,

That's probably not possible. Especially considering people leave their old questions in their signatures when posting a new one. It says not to put a question there... People just don't seem to listen.

indigian,

Press ctrl-u [you are using FireFox, right?] and search for "average" and you'll see the color tag that makes min blue. You can guess the rest.

Hi Justin, Arctos, Sabertooth, M2, indigian, Curt R, Jennifer SUMN, hi everyone

"The signature... ...textarea anymore."
True, however when one checks the checkbox in front of "Check To Show Confirmation Page Again" prior to clicking on the Confirm Post button, the signature will be reflected in the confirmation page textarea.

Does this result in the signature to be double posted?
We will found out after confirming this post for the second time, without the checkbox checked. Just debugging, Justin.

"Does this... ...double posted?"
Apparently not! :-)

I added this, "for the second time, without the checkbox checked", after I checked the checkbox and confirmed the post looking at a double signature.

Nice, very nice done Justin! :-)

Ok

Double sig in 13 was on purpose,sorry,was just teasin

Double sig in 14 caused by...

"Check To Show Confirmation Page Again" box ticked

Then I could also change sig to red,well, half of it went red.

There is also the option to...."Check To Show Confirmation Page Again" again

If 3 sigs turn up after I post this....

A little more debugging... going to alter the color for the shown signature in the textarea after ticking the checkbox in front of "Check To Show Confirmation Page Again" and see if I than get a double posting of the signature.

Hi Justin, Arctos, Sabertooth, M2, indigian, Curt R, Jennifer SUMN, The Count, hello everyone,

indigian,

You don't need to change the color each time you post.

Just put this into your signature in My Computing.net before everything else;
<font size="2"color="red">

Place this at the end of your signature;
</font>
Best Regards,
Mesich

Hi Indigian,

Working fine here. After clicking on Set/Change, log out, close the browser, re-open the browser and log back in.

Also you don't need the <BR> tags, here it is correctly;

Hi Indigian,

I don't use Opera, but I suggest trying the following;

Log off My Computing.net

Close out all browsers.

Go to where your Opera cookies are stored and delete the one for Computing.net.

Sign back in to Computing.net

Best Regards,

Personally, I don't understand why someone would want to put machine specs in a signature, as I'm not concerned with what system a respondent is running. I feel it unnecessarily takes up too much additional space...causing the threads to be way too long.
