Specs: Windows xp
my laptop wont boot up after disk clean up. I am using windows XP and did a disc clean up to save memory. On the process I ticked on few items. Now when I turn on my laptop it powers on and power off immediately like power failure. It is same if done in safe mode or otherwise. It does not fully start up but begin the process of normal start up and power off itself. As I am using thinkpad, tried to restore files using 'rescure and recovery' but it again starts the proceess and turns off exactly 2 minutes. Please help me.

Just so you know disk cleanup has nothing to do with memory [ram]. It has to do with cleaning up temp/deleted files/install files from your hard drive which frees up space on your hard drive.

Disk cleanup also did not have anything to do with your booting issue. That is just coincidence. Disk cleanup has no ability to affect the boot files or process.

A more likely culprit is hardware failure or virus infection.

To test if this is a hardware vs software issue the first test is to enter the bios and see if you experience the same system shutdown. If so its a hardware issue requiring skilled repair.
