i deleted fat partition now my pc wont boot

Specs: Windows xp
i intended to reformat my pc .. put the xp disk in and when it came to choose a partition i deleted one labled (FAT) and then one labled (C) it then said it was formating the drive...at the end of the formating process it said auto restarting .. it shut down but when it came back on the screen is just black...i can hear the fan running but i am unable to do anything ...did i kill it?

You'll need to re-install your XP from scratch. Just put the disk in the CD and make sure that your PC is set to boot from CD.

Reformatting wipes the hard drive, what did you expect would happen? Are you seeing the initial boot screen? Formatting has nothing to do with the BIOS so if you have a Dell, HP, Gateway, etc, the splash screen should still come up then the system will stall. The FAT partition you deleted was probably the restore partition which is used to reinstall Windows. You will now have to boot off the XP disc & reinstall Windows from scratch. If you have a SATA hard drive, there's a trick to get XP installed. Do you have a floppy drive?
