I have recently installed ms xp on my computer (packard bell) PB 9450k and when I go to shutdown it says "it is now safe to switch your computer off". Before it turned off automatically now it doesn't. Can I alter this?

Go to the Device Manager, and Click on VIEW go down to SHOW HIDDEN DEVICES and Click on it, You'll see "NT Apm/Legacy support" right click on it and ENABLE IT.
Thats all you have to do. Then shut down your pc. Try it.
Art.
