I had Windows XP Pro on my computer and it worked great till one day I had to reboot and it would not start again. A message came up that stated the windows/system32/config/system file was missing or currupted. It stated that a repair could be attempted with the original setup disk. I tried this and no repair install was available. I've done this before so I sorta know what to expect and it wasn't there. What I did was install a seperate Windows using a folder called Windows2. I did this so I could retrive some files I had on my original Windows installation. Ok, now this works but all the programs that I had originally installed don't work. Basically what I have is a new installation of Windows XP with lots of other files just sitting on my hard drive. My question and desire is to restore my original Windows installation. Would anyone know or have suggestions as to how to do this? Sure could use some help.
