To sum it up quickly after a while my computer slows down due to svchost.exe taking up 200-300k of memory usage and after i terminate the process it goes back to normal and the svchost.exe comes back fine and not malfunctioning. But i cant open anything in my quick launch or desktop and frankly its annoying and i cant find a solution online so i came here and decided what better help than the people that have experienced it so....yea any help is greatly appreciated.

Try switching off MS Auto updates & get SP3 if you don't have it, but only after you make sure you are not infected. The svchost.exe file is located in the c:\windows\System32 folder. In other cases, svchost.exe is a virus, spyware, trojan or worm!
I dont believe its MS auto update whatever it is. Yes im not infected i've run Malwarebytes, AVG anti-virus, and super anti spyware and they cleared up everything but the problems still happened.

Or, go to Control Panel > Automatic Updates.
ok wait so go to either one of those links or control panel.....it wasnt very descriptive about what to do..
As your comp is not working properly, I have given you all the ways you can turn it off. Choose the one that lets you do it.
oh well to turn it off i could use control panel but that would require me to restart my pc....oh well but i know that may not be the problem
whocares1243, Go to the link below and scroll down to line 12 (left column) and click on "EXE (lnk and regfile) Fix for Windows XP" to download a reg file fix. Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it or right click it and choose "merge" and answer yes to the import prompt.http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_...
If you can't run the file do the following:
Press CTRL-ALT-DEL and open Task Manager. Once there, click File, then hold down the CTRL key and click New Task (Run). This will open a Command Prompt window. Enter REGEDIT.exe and press Enter. Once regedit is open click File>Import and locate that reg file fix, hilite it and click Open.
Note: If you can't access the Internet with the problem computer use another computer to download the reg file fix onto a CD, thumb drive, or floppy and transfer the file to the problem computer.
