I can't open any windows!

When I click on an icon, the window doesn't come up. All that appears is an alert box saying that I need to assign that icon in Folder Options, located in the Control Panel; however, it won't bring up the Control Panel, giving me the same message no matter which icon I click on. Please help me!

Elune, perhaps you're using an incorrect method for conjuring the control panel? Start>settings>control panel. Another 'maybe' is some sort of nasty. Don't forget a possible worm/trojan. HTH. Ed in Texas.
