Your machine probably can't use XP. You didn't give any system specs on it, so who can say. Why replace Windows 7 with XP. It won't even be supported much longer. If you can, reinstall Win 7 and be done with it. if you need XP for something, you can always use a virtual machine.

Thanks Dear grasshopper
I had windows xp before on my laptop, Now for some uses i need to install Xp adjacent to windows 7.
Now windows 7 works correctly on my system and i think there is no reason that xp doesn't install on my system.

Drivers for XP on a more recent/newer laptop may not always be available; as "grasshopper" comments... Chipset drivers at least may not exist to allow it? Thus the VM approach is a logical path to go?

You might check with website for the make/model of your laptop to see if it supported with regard to XP; as some of the fairly recent makes/models are - but not all.

Incidentally what is the make/model?

Also - how did you set about installing XP...?
