I have a similar problem with my MessagePro standalone modem that takes faxes even if the computer is off. Unfortunately, XP seems to keep the port open, preventing Phonetools from downloading the received faxes, or letting the modem utility software access the modem. There are no updated drivers from Swann who sell the modem.
