i have an emachines desktop 512mb ddr sdram intel celeron d processor 330 2.66GHz 256k L2 Cache 533 MHz FSB for some reason i cannot install several programs or update java i keep getting the following error Error-Java(TM)Installer Download failed:from=/jre1.6.0_ll-c.msi,to=C:\Documents and Settings\blank\application data\sun\Java\jre1.6.0_ll-c.msi any ideas are very much appreciated

Since you say several programs it might be time for a clean install if you feel confident doing that. If not then maybe try to delete that file. Go to the Sun's Java web page and try to get latest. May have to try to uninstall it via control panel first. Might have to do that in safe mode too. Other options may be a restore point if you know this all happened on some date. Go to Add/Remove and delete all Java entries. Next, down load the latest java updates either from Sun or, the latest one is available @ http://www.filehippo.com Bottom right corner of 1st page. Save the download to Desktop and install when off-line. There is nothing to learn from someone who already agrees with you.
