Post the full model number or the service tag number from the bottom (not the number posted above) of the laptop. Some Dell Laptops may have a hidden restore partition while others may not.
If you have a model with a hidden partition it may be possible to restore the laptop to factory condition.
From your original post it sounds like the laptop was a corporate unit. I am surprised the hard drive was not wiped.
