I can't find temporary internet files in XP

May 16, 2011 at 10:08:08
Specs: Windows XP
I can't find the folder in My Computer, Windows XP, for Temporary Internet Files.
I check drive C, then Documents and Settings, my folder, then Local Settings, but the folder for Temporary Internet Files does not appear. I have hidden and system files displayed, but I still can't find them.
I'm sure I missing something quite obvious, BUT...
If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate the insight.

• Internet Options
• General [tab]
• Browser history
• Settings [button]
a) Read the current location [middle of window],
b) Move the folder[button] to a simple-to-find folder of your choice, like "C:\~Temporary Internet Files" - [easy to navigate].

I happen to have a shortcut to IE Temporary Internet files and here is a copy/paste of its path (unchanged from detault):

"C:\Documents and Settings\User\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files"
I've never bothered to name the computer so substitute your own name for User.

This seems to be exactly what you were looking at. Recheck to see if the changes you made to your Folder settings have been retained (particularly the system one). Change the system setting back afterwards otherwise you get ini files showing in desktop folders.

Another possibility is that they have already been moved (see post #1).

Please come back and let us know the outcome.
