The properties of your pictures might be "Read Only". Right click on the picture, select properties and un-check the "Read Only" box

I and many other network admins wish read only meant you couldn't copy a file. You can. You just can't write to the file when read only.

Juanitatho walk us thru how you are trying to copy these pictures.
for example you right mouse click on the file and select copy. What do you do next?

I then try to paste on a private message in a social network. When right click, the box has everything grayed out but "Select all."

Then what you really mean is you can't upload pictures to a certain site.

Juanitatho you need to review the rules/setting of this social site so you can upload a picture.
Clearly they are blocking you from just doing a copy and paste.

This is not something that is wrong or that you can correct.

Juan

To verify that you don't have a problem with Windows itself, try copying and pasting within windows itself. Copy from the photo folder to the desktop. If the file appears on the desktop then there is nothing wrong with Windows.

Juanitatho:
Unless you divulge which social network is involved, there is likely little assistance we can provide. You did not address OtheHill's "can't upload" comment. Can you, or can't you upload (in any way whatsoever)? It may very well be that it is not possible to do it exactly the way you want it...but possible nevertheless. This could be specific to the social network involved, but you are keeping that info "secret" for some reason...

I have been out shopping. Yes, I can copy & paste to my desktop. It places a link to my paintshop where the picture is opened.
Eons is the social site. I have asked a manager there if it is their rule but I haven`t heard back. Thanks for your help. I will stay tuned to see if it can be fixed.
