Specs: Windows XP
I can't boot the installation CD of my XP. It seems like the keyboard is not detected because upon hitting any key on the prompt (Press any key to boot from CD) it goes straight through the windows. Please help. can't format my pc. Thanks!

Is your keyboard connected by usb or ps2? If usb try and borrow or buy a ps2 connected keyboard. Some motherboards or rather the bios doesn't detect usb keyboards at this point. Guess it depends on your bios.

Yes I have tried using both (usb and ps2). At this point all i can think is maybe it is the virus that causes the irregularity. I can open the BIOS using both keyboards. It is also running after entering windows EXCEPT booting XP installation CD. What I did is to format the HDD on other CPU set and then I tried to return it to it's original unit, the problem now was eliminated. The formatting was successful. Can it really be the virus that causes the problem? Thank you very much for your response.
