I am running windows 7 with i5 processor 64bit,
You have the Java Runtime Enviornment which allows you to run Java applications. Did you mean to get the Java Development Kit which allows you to develop Java applications?

No i am just trying to update java.
Why are you posting in the XP forum?
But what type of Java are you trying to update - the RE or the JDK? The JDK includes the RE. Make sure you read this article for 64-bit Windows operating systems.
http://www.java.com/en/download/faq...If you have previous versions of Java installed, it's best to completely uninstall all instances including a possible JavaDB before installing new versions. Sometimes old instances of Java remain when new ones get installed and it ends up causing problems. It was a bigger problem before Oracle bought Sun Microsystems, but the problem isn't completely gone.
