Is this a fresh installation, meaning you installing from a Windows disc because either A.) You don't have an OS installed, or B.) You do have one installed but intend to basically install over it?

If you already have Windows XP installed, say SP2, and are upgrading to SP3, have you tried running the setup file from Safe Mode? This is the setup file I've used: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/down...

Apologies if I don't respond to your reply immediately. I don't check this site daily, but you're welcome to PM me as a reminder.

If this is a fresh install do you have ACPI enabled in the BIOS?
